GCCE 2012, an IEEE-sponsored international conference, will be held simultaneously with CEATEC Japan 2012 in October 2012. Since we received many inquiries during the "Golden Week" holiday period, the manuscript deadline has been postponed by one month. Refereed articles should be written within two pages of A4 paper. You are cordially invited to submit articles about your achievements.

Jun. 01, 2012 - The ECHONET Consortium has started to offer ECHONET Lite compliance certification services on April 2, 2012.
Appliances that require ECHONET Lite compliance certification
･Appliances that must be certified to ECHONET Lite include full ECHONET Lite appliances and ECHONET Lite-ready appliances defined in Section 4.2 of Part 1 of the ECHONET Lite Specification, and ECHONET Lite middleware adapters defined in Section 4.3.
･ECHONET Lite middleware adapters that require certification are those which have an object-generated or peer-to-peer communication interface.

The ECHONET Consortium will hold the first ECHONET PlugFest exhibition as follows:

The purpose of the coming symposium is to share up-to-date information on the rapid developments in the previous three months, including the trend in smart metering communications.

Dec. 22, 2011 - The ECHONET Lite Specification has been made open to the public.
As we announced in the ENL059 issue of the ECHONET Newsletter today, ECHONET Lite has been recommended as an open standard interface for HEMS. We have made the ECHONET Lite Specification open to the public in order to expand the HEMS market and the use of ECHONET.
We also held a press conference at PiO in Ota-ku, Tokyo to announce that the ECHONET Lite Specification would be made open to the public.

Dec. 21, 2011 - The ECHONET Lite Specification will be recommended as an open standard interface.
On November 7 this year, the Japan Smart Community Alliance (JSCA), which consists of the METI and private manufacturers, has set up a study group for smart house standardization in the Energy Management Sub-Working Group (EMS-SWG) under the International Standardization WG. The HEMS task force of the study group has been deliberating on standard protocols that will play a central role in smart houses. Consequently, it determined to recommend the ECHONET Lite Specification as an open standard interface. It was proposed and approved at the smart house standardization meeting on December 16.
On the same day, the METI made a press announcement on this, which was reported in multiple newspapers. In the future, the Smart Metering Task Force of the study group will discuss the use of ECHONET Lite for interoperation between smart meters and HEMS systems.
Dec. 21, 2011 - The ECHONET Symposium was held.
